Our emphasis is on fun and creating an inclusive community of confident, sea savvy women, that build each other up and inspire others to get involved in social, outdoor physical activity.

All women are welcome to join, whether you attend one surf lesson or you are a regular face at club. There is no pressure to join every session, you can book as many as you like.

Running three sessions a week allows for flexibility and more options for those with busy work and home life schedules. Open to all women who want to try surfing in Cornwall.

Can I join session without membership?

How much is membership?

NWSC Club membership £25 valid until April 2024

What do I get with a NWSC Membership?

Access to the members only website for surf theory, discounted surf club rate, discounts at local stores, access to book club surf trips and private surf lessons. Insurance on all club activities.

When do I have to renew my membership?

Membership is due every April, this applies even if you started half way through the previous year. NWSC Club Membership runs April-March.

How do I pay for membership?

All payments will be taken online

How much are sessions and how do I pay for them?

For members each surf session is £8. When you sign up as a member you will automatically have access to book club events at the discounted price. If you want to try out a session as a non-member you can sign up as a non-member and join surf sessions from £15.

What if I have booked a session and can no longer attend?

Please email us as soon as possible so we can open up the space to someone else. We will try our best to fill your space and offer to transfer your booking if we can. We can only offer refund on bookings with 2 weeks notice.

What age is NWSC for?

Our current minimum age is 14 our oldest member so far is 72. All under 18’s have to be signed in and out by a parent or guardian over the age of 18.

What swimming ability should I have to take part?

All members must be able to swim a minimum 50m in a recognised stroke. This is a rule set by the National Governing Body - Surfing England. Members and club staff/volunteers are not insured if members can not swim 50m.

What equipment will I need?

All equipment is available to hire at £2.50 per item if you need it, this includes wetsuit, boots and surfboard. You just select the option you require at booking. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment if you have it.

What kind of wetsuit do I need?

We recommend a 5mm or full (long sleeve, long arms) winter wetsuit from October until the end of May. A 3mm wetsuit is usually warm enough from May to September.

Will you have equipment suitable for me?

Yes, we have access to all sizes of wetsuit and a range of surfboards.

What day and time are sessions?

Club sessions run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday April—October and Weekends October-March. We usually meet at 6:30pm and finish at 8pm in the summer and 10:30am-12pm in the winter, but please check when booking as times and availability can vary due to the tides.

What time of year does club run?

We surf all year round! Keep an eye on our social media or events calendar for news and updates.

How many members are in each group?

There is a maximum 8 members to 1 instructor and maximum 24 surfers at each club surf.

How many instructors will be at each session?

This depends on the total number booked on each session (see above safe ratio) We aim to have a minimum 2 instructors at each surf, but we often have more.

What surf experience do I need to join?

Absolutely none at all! If you are just starting out we can provide you with basic surf tuition to get started. If you already surf, we can provide hints and tips to improve and progress.
